Alberta Finance Minister Travis Toews says there was some disappointments in the federal government’s budget.

Toews joined us on the Trending 55 Hot Seat and says his biggest concern was a lack of acknowledgment for the energy industry.

“There was no reference to our pipelines challenges and there was no acknowledgment that for economic recovery for the nation and for future prosperity of future generations of Canadians that the energy industry was going to be a significant contributor.”

Another thing Toews says he didn’t like about the federal budget was the lack of “a tangible plan to position the nation for true economic growth and recovery.”

“We’ve been on a path since about 2015 as a nation of declining business investment, especially in the goods producing sector. In the intermediate and long term, that’s very concerning to future prosperity and wealth creation.”

We talked in detail with Toews about the federal budget and other topics, you can listen to the full conversation below.
