It’s new funding that is a welcome announcement to the Province’s Beef Industry.
The Alberta Beef Producers is receiving $1.9 million dollars for their Verified Beff Production Plus program, through Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership.
Key enhancements of this program include expanded extension programming, community events with producers, targeted resources for 4H beef members, and indigenous-operated beef operations.
The program focuses on on-farm food safety, biosecurity, animal care, environment, and the human aspect.
Officials say about one in five beef animals in Alberta are being raised on a VBP+ program, and the hope is to have opportunities available.
