Inspectors for Alberta Health Services are having a busy April.

Between April 12 and April 19, the public health authority issued 12 closure orders to “food establishments” in the north zone.

The majority of orders are related to an alleged violation of the order below.

“Patron food and beverage service was observed in the indoor dining area of the premises in contravention of section 6.2 of CMOH Order 10-2021 which states, “an operator of a food serving business or entity is prohibited from offering or providing indoor food and beverage services”.”

According to a post on social media, one of the businesses suggested that they will not be closing as they feel it is a violation of their rights and freedoms.

Premier Jason Kenney announced earlier this month that Alberta would be returning to Step 1 of its relaunch plan as active COVID-19 cases continue to rise.

Step 1 includes the suspension of indoor dining at restaurants, but customers can order takeout and are permitted to enter the establishment to get their food.
