The Top of the Country contest that is apart of the CCMA Awards week has narrowed down the field from 8 to 3 for the $25,000 grand prize. The finalist are Morgan Griffiths, Shawny Kish and Blue Ridge Band. All 3 will play during the finals in Saskatoon as a part of the week for the big prize, the runners up will receive $10,000. All will be part of CMA Fest in Nashville and LASSO Montréal as part of being finalists.
I am surprised and not surprised by the finalists, as Morgan Griffiths has had big radio success in the last year it isn’t surprising for him to be named, but with the massive campaigns by people for Josh Stumpf and Morgan Klaiber both were not named finalists.
Of the 3 finalists, two have been played on Rising Stars with Morgan being the lone one to serve as a headliner for the show.
I do look forward to seeing the finals happen in September and seeing who will take home the title
