The Holy Family Catholic Regional Division has confirmed that plans for a new St. Thomas More School in Fairview, Alberta remain approved and are continuing through the provincial planning process.
In a letter sent to parents, guardians, staff, and community members, trustee Jessica Richard provided an update on the status of the project, addressing questions that have circulated in the community about whether the project was still proceeding.
Richard confirmed that the new school project is actively advancing and that contractors have recently been on-site conducting geotechnical work. The testing is intended to confirm the site’s readiness and gather technical information needed to refine the project’s scope, timeline, and cost.
According to the update, the project is currently in Phase 2, which involves site assessments and technical studies that are already underway.
Future phases of the project include:
-
Phase 3: Design of the new school, which will also involve consultation with the community.
-
Phase 4: Construction of the new school building.
Richard said it is encouraging to see progress being made and expressed appreciation for the patience and support shown by families and community members.
The board also reaffirmed its commitment to the project and stated it will continue advocating for the school so the project can be completed in a timely manner.
Further updates will be shared as the planning and development process continues.
