Alberta Justice has announced that Vincent Campiou will be sentenced on March 25 in the Grande Prairie Court of King’s Bench for the 2023 shooting death of 59-year-old Patricia Campiou at Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation.
Initially charged with murder, Vincent Campiou was of manslaughter involving the use of a firearm.
The incident occurred on March 12, 2023, when Valleyview RCMP responded to a shooting report at a Sturgeon Lake home.
Despite first responders’ efforts, Patricia Campiou succumbed to her injuries. Vincent Campiou was arrested the following day.
