  1. Trade Show season is continuing this weekend with the Northern Connections Expo at the Baytex Energy Center in Peace River, today and tomorrow.
    Also happening, today and tomorrow, is the High Level and District Trade Show at the Sports Complex and Curling rink.
  2. RCMP in Fox Creek are looking for a suspect in an armed robbery at the Circle K convenience store last month.
    The man, armed with a kitchen knife and bear spray, demanded cash and fled on foot.
  3. The Town of Fairview has adopted their final Budget for 2026, which includes a surplus of over $151,000 for the current Mill Rate Stabilization Reserve and General Capital Reserve.
  4. Energy Alberta is continuing with Environmental Field Studies for the proposed Peace River Nuclear Power project.
    Data being collected include, potential water intake locations, surface water conditions, groundwater conditions, and local wildlife, including species at risk.
  5. Residents in the Peace Region are starting to make travel plans for this upcoming summer.
    However, minds might be changed, as prices at the pump have increased significantly to between $1.70 and $1.80 per litre and higher.
  6. Authorities are reminding motorists to be extra cautious this weekend, as the Provincial Highway Clean-up takes place.
    Over 12,000 people are expected to participate, which includes 8,000 children from various community youth groups.
  7. Street Sweeping is beginning in many jurisdictions in the Northwest.
    Officials are asking motorist and pedestrians to be aware of them in the area, especially those who may have allergies, as the dust starts flying.

  9. Week 2 of the Mighty Peace Basketball League takes place Sunday at Glenmary school in Peace River.
  10. NHL playoffs tonight… Games 6 – Tampa Bay is in Montreal, Buffalo is in Boston, and Las Vegas is in Utah.
  11. The Toronto Blue Jays continue their series in Minnesota tonight. Patrick Corbin starts for the Jays against Simeon Woods-Richardson.
  12. Sunshine and rising temperature are forecasted for the Northwest, heading into this weekend and next week.
    Highs during the day, are in the mid to high teens, with overnight lows being around zero.
    It might be a little chilly tonight in the Mackenzie, but highs could hit the 20’s next week.
