On December 23, 2025, High Level RCMP responded to a stolen vehicle report, locating the abandoned car in Bushe River on the Dene Tha’ First Nation around 7:30 p.m.
Officers arrested a man nearby and transported him to the High Level RCMP detachment for processing.
During booking, an officer struck the man, causing a facial injury.
Paramedics were called, and the man was taken to the hospital.
The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is investigating the incident as a Level 1 matter, involving serious injury or sensitive allegations against an officer.
The investigation is ongoing, with no further information available at this time.
