PRSD Board Highlights…

In recent developments within the Peace River School Division, the Board of Trustees has declared the Dixonville School building and property surplus, initiating a process for potential transfer or sale.

This decision aligns with the Real Property Governance Act and Disposition of Property Regulation, which mandates offering the property to other government departments before public sale.

Notably, the Board acknowledges the Dixonville Charter School Society’s interest in utilizing the facility.

Additionally, the Board has ratified a new Collective Agreement with CUPE Local 4839 Bus Drivers, ensuring continued collaboration and service excellence.

In Fairview, a community engagement session is scheduled within the next three weeks.

This meeting aims to discuss the future of public school buildings, presenting various options and gathering community input to guide the Board’s capital planning.

Regarding infrastructure, the Board was informed on August 21 of delays in constructing the new Red Earth Creek School.

Superintendent Dr. Jeff Thompson and Secretary-Treasurer Rhonda Freeman reported that a revised timeline for the project’s commencement has yet to be provided.

Lastly, the Board is working towards developing a policy on the selection, availability, and access of school library materials.

The goal is to have this policy in place by January 1, 2026.
