Board of Trustees meet Premier Smith & Education Minister Nicolaides
The Board shared their experience at the ACSTA MLA Reception in Edmonton, and their conversations with Premier Danielle Smith & Education Minister Demetrios Nicolaides.

St. Thomas More School Next Steps Forward
Administration has been meeting with potential community partners for the new school project in Fairview. More discussions are upcoming.
The Board will look to advocate for funding to assist in maintaining suitable educational facilities while awaiting the construction of a new school.
Future community engagement will be planned once more information and options have been gathered.
Friends of Education Award
The Board of Trustees has nominated The Family Resource Network for the ASBA Friends of Education Award.
“The Friends of Education Award recognizes individuals or organizations who are demonstrably committed to improving education for Alberta students and who have made a significant contribution to education in Alberta.” (Alberta School Boards Association)
The Board has chosen to nominate the Family Resource Network, for offering students, and their parents & guardians, with important family support & educational programs.
Joint Board Meeting with Peace River School Division
HFCRD will be hosting the Peace River School Division for a Joint Board Meeting on May 21st at the Central Office in Peace River.
Agenda items will include general partnerships, the need for road repairs at Rosary School, the upcoming election, and association fee increases.
HFCRD has selected three Saint Days for the 2025-26 School Year
Saint John Bosco – He dedicated his life to the betterment and education of street children, troubled youth, and other disadvantaged youth.
Saint Bernadette Soubirous – She was a poor, uneducated peasant girl who no one would believe had seen apparitions of the Blessed Mother at the age of 14. After a canonical investigation, her reports were later declared to be worthy of belief.
Saint Oscar Domareo – He was a strong voice against social injustice and violence. He was shot and killed by an assassin while celebrating mass.

– HFCRD 2025-2026 School Year Calendars were approved and can be found HERE
– A December 2025 California Basketball Trip for Glenmary Students was approved in principle. Travel advisories will be monitored.
– The Board passed a motion to direct administration to put the old Grimshaw School Land back up for sale.
– An Ad Hoc Committee was formed to select from Nominations for the HFCRD Excellence in Support and Promotion of Indigenous Education Award
