Whitecourt, Mayerthorpe and Evansburg RCMP respond to proactive traffic stop – Update 2
Whitecourt, Alta. – Whitecourt RCMP have been making progress, returning stolen items found within the vehicle to their rightful owners.
There are still several items that Whitecourt members have not been able to locate the owners for which are suspected to be from the Valleyview and High Prairie areas. Whitecourt RCMP urges community members from the region to take a look through their properties to ensure that there are no un-reported break and enters.
Additionally, if someone recognizes this helmet as theirs, please contact the Whitecourt RCMP so that they may return it.
If you have been a victim of property crime in the region, please report this to your local RCMP and provide serial numbers and description of items as best as you can.

Whitecourt, Mayerthorpe and Evansburg RCMP respond to proactive traffic stop – Update
Whitecourt, Alta. – Whitecourt RCMP have laid charges on Bradley Gordon Duff (39), a resident of Whitecourt, with:
- Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, without a license
- Unauthorized possession of firearm in a motor vehicle x 2
- Possession of firearm, cross-bow, prohibited weapon, restricted weapon, prohibited device, any ammunition, any prohibited ammunition, or an explosive substance whilst prohibited x 4
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Impaired operation of a motor vehicle
- Refusal to comply with demand (for impaired)
- Operate a motor vehicle while being pursued
- Operate a motor vehicle while prohibited from doing so x 2
- Possession of property obtained by crime, over $5000
- Possession of property obtained by crime, under $5000
- Fraudulent concealment
- Operate a motor vehicle while uninsured
The truck and license plate were stolen from the Edmonton Alta. area.
Duff was brought before a Justice of the Peace, where he was remanded with a court date of Jan. 20, 2025 at the Alberta Court of Justice in St. Albert, Alta.
This investigation is still ongoing.
Whitecourt, Mayerthorp and Evansburg RCMP respond to proactive traffic stop
Whitecourt, Alta. – On Jan. 15, 2025, at approximately 9:30 A.M., RCMP members from Whitecourt, initiated a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle parked roadside. The driver of the vehicle fled, passing through Mayerthorpe RCMP and then through to Evansburg, Alta., where the vehicle was stopped after a successful spike belt deployment.
The driver fled on foot into the woods in the area of Highway 16 and Range Road 91, in the Wildwood area.
RCMP utilized resources from surrounding detachments, which included members from Whitecourt, Mayerthorpe, Evansburg and Edson, Alta. RCMP. As well as Whitecourt General Investigation Services (GIS), Whitecourt Traffic Services, 2 Police Dog Services members (PDS), Western Alberta District’s Crime Reduction Unit (WAD CRU), Provincial Crime Reduction Team (CRT), the RCMP’s Air Services, Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPASS aka Drones).
Due to the exceptional teamwork from all assisting units, support services and members involved, the driver was located in the woods and was arrested without further incident.
RCMP would like to thank all community members for their cooperation and understanding with the increased police presence in the area.
