Drones in the Peace River Skies

The town of Peace River is using drones to collect data on specific slopes for the purpose of engineering projects.

Residents may notice them flying around Shaftesbury and the area of the road slide on the South side.

It’ll allow them to create 3D maps that can be used to analyze these areas to help with future construction.

The process is known as GIS Mapping (Geographic Information System), and uses LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging), to create the data needed.
