RCMP RELEASE:
Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, Alta. – On Jan. 23, 2023, The Western Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit (WAD CRU) with the assistance of the RCMP Police Dog Service and Valleyview RCMP Detachment attended a residence on Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation looking for two individuals wanted on outstanding warrants. Upon arrival, 4 individuals were observed outside of the residence and interacting with an idling vehicle in the driveway. RCMP observed 2 sawed off shot guns in the vehicle which were later to be determined to be loaded. Ultimately, all 4 individuals were arrested and police obtained a search warrant for all vehicles and the residence. As a result of the search, RCMP seized:
- Rifles (x2)
- A sawed off rifle
- Sawed off shot guns (x2)
- Air soft guns (x2)
- Crossbows (x2)
- Ammunition
- Approximately 22 grams of suspected Methamphetamine
- Approximately 2.5 grams of suspected Cocaine
- Body armour
- Nun chucks
Winona Kristen Lynn Gouchey (35), a resident of Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, has been charged with:
- Possession of a weapon contrary to order (x14)
- Weapons offences (x12)
- Obstruction
- Possession of a controlled substance (x2)
Gouchey has been remanded in custody with her next court date set for Jan. 25, 2023, at Grande Prairie Provincial Court.
Jordana Ray-Lynn Goodswimmer (22), a resident of Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, has been charged with:
- Weapons offences (x8)
- Fail to attend court (x4)
Goodswimmer has been remanded in custody with her next court date set for Jan. 25, 2023, at Grande Prairie Provincial Court.
Dorian Anakian Harvey (25), a resident of Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, has been charged with:
- Weapons offences (x8)
- Possession of a weapon contrary to order (x8)
Harvey has been remanded in custody with his next court date set for Jan. 25, 2023, at Grande Prairie Provincial Court.
Brandon Lee Munroe (33), a resident of Valleyview has been charged with:
- Weapons offences (x8)
- Possession of a controlled substance (x2)
- Possession of a weapon contrary to order (x8)
- Fail to appear
Munroe has been remanded in custody with his next court date set for Feb. 2, 2023, at Grande Prairie Provincial Court.
