August 18, 2021 – Alberta Health Services reports Big Lakes County with 15 active cases of Covid-19, triggering High Prairie’s mask bylaw to come into effect once again.

High Prairie Town Council passed the face coverings bylaw on November 10, 2020 and requires all citizens to wear a face covering at all times inside public spaces and transportation vehicles.

The provincial mask mandate was lifted on July 1, 2021 when the province rescinded almost all pandemic restrictions, but High Prairie choose to keep theirs at a council meeting on July 27, 2021.

There are exemptions and penalties for if the bylaw is not being followed, to take a look at the bylaw click here.

If Big Lakes County dips under 15 active cases for 15 consecutive days, the bylaw will be lifted.
