Northern Sunrise County has officially approved its 2026 capital and operating budgets, with a focus on maintaining infrastructure, sustaining services, and strengthening partnerships with neighboring municipalities. Council also passed the 2026 tax rate bylaw, keeping rates unchanged across all property classes for another year.
Reeve Claude Rodrigue says the budget reflects residents’ priorities, including road and bridge upkeep and support for community facilities, while continuing to collaborate with regional partners.
Despite stable tax rates, the County notes ongoing challenges from reduced provincial funding and increased responsibilities downloaded from the province. Council says it will continue advocating strongly to address these concerns.
Officials add the balanced budget supports key projects and essential services, helping ensure long-term financial stability while maintaining consistent service levels for taxpayers.
