Beekeepers optimistic of increased honey production in 2026 (Connie Phillips)

The late start to Spring, thanks to the true nature of winter, is possibly having a positive outlook on some specifics in the Agriculture sector.

One colony that could benefit would be the Beekeepers in Northwestern Alberta, as some are optimitic that honey production could rebound nicely in 2026.

After the last few years of dealing with harsh winters, drought and wildfire smoke, among other things, honey production could be starting to be on the rise.

However, Mother Nature’s cooperation is going to be needed, as the calendar is at the beginning of May, and some lingering snow is still on the ground.

Seeding and production this year could be down because of the late start this year, and that could mean that pollination may not be as abundant as desired.

Producers can only hope for that not to be the case.

The Executive Director of the Alberta BeeKeeper’s Commission, is Connie Phillips.
