Break up of the Peace River is making its way through town.
A short ice cover remains in place upstream of Town. This is anticipated to melt and break up later today (Sunday) or tomorrow (Monday).
The ice jam on the Heart River melted and released into the Peace River Saturday evening. According to Alberta River Basins, water levels on the north end of town rose slightly, but no issues occurred.
On the Smoky River, the ice jam has now melted and released into the Peace.
As break up continues, river water levels may fluctuate, but no flooding impacts are expected.
