
Ice conditions along the Peace River continue to improve, and the flood risk has significantly decreased as spring break up progresses and water levels drop.
The ice jam on the Heart River has melted significantly. Equipment has been set up should issues arise related to debris.
On the Smoky River, the ice jam is melting out. The size of the jam has reduced over the past days and is not expected to cause any issues with the Peace River.
Meanwhile, the Peace River ice front is gradually moving toward town through a thermal breakup. Open water channels are forming as the ice weakens. The front is expected to fully pass through town by tomorrow or early Monday.
