Rising spring run-off continues in Big Lakes County as a flood warning remains in effect for northern areas of the East Prairie and West Prairie Rivers.
Water is flowing over berms, impacting roads and some properties. Officials warn levels could rise further with ongoing snowmelt.
Drivers are urged not to travel through standing water due to unstable road conditions. Crews are responding, but delays are possible.
Due to overland flooding, the following roads remain closed:
Range Road 171
Township Road 753A (RR 171A–170A)
Range Road 163 (Twp 750–752)
Range Road 153 (“Swamp Road”)
Sandbags are available at the Public Works Yard in High Prairie. Individuals must bring their own shovel and check in at the Administration Office before entering the yard.
Big Lakes County urges residents to report urgent issues by calling 780-523-5955.
