Story Update – March 26.
In an update from Alberta’s River Forecast Centre, warm temperatures have triggered snowmelt, raising water levels and clearing ice on the Heart River as of March 25.
This change caused an ice jam at the Peace River, leading to minor flooding at the 12 Foot Davis Events Park. Fortunately, water levels appear to have peaked according to the water gauge near Nampa and are expected to recede over the coming days.
The River Forecast Centre is actively monitoring the Heart River and its tributaries 24/7 for any changes, but currently, no further impacts are anticipated.
