Last night in Dawson Creek, BC at the Ovintiv Events Centre 2 Canadian Country Music Hall of Famers and a future one took the stage to put on an amazing show. Those artists were Michelle Wright, Jason McCoy and Doc Walker.

The show saw Jason McCoy limited due to illness only performing 4 songs total, only 1 after the intermission, but he still cracked jokes and played guitar for the entire show.

The show was a rotation between the 3 acts starting with Michelle Wright, then Jason followed by Doc Walker. Michelle would go on to perform hits like “He Would Be 16,” “Nobody’s Girl” and “Take It Like A Man” just to name a few in her performances with Doc Walker playing hits like “Beautiful Life,” “That’s All,” “Show Is Free” and “Rocket Girl” and more. As mentioned above Jason was limited in his songs due to illness which would see him play “Crazy About You” and “Mud” from his time with the Road Hammers and solo material with “Still” and “Born Again in Dixieland.” I never picked up on Jason’s illness taking effect until a little with “Still” but evident when performing “Mud” (3rd song).

The chemistry with all 3 acts was amazing especially back each other on vocals and the humor with the all the jokes was worth the price of admission. Michelle who has been around since the mid 80s was able to show that age is just a number as she put on a specular vocal performance. Doc Walker, who I last saw as a trio rather than a duo didn’t miss a beat.

The crowd I must say was one of the tamest crowds I had seen for a country concert, not until the second half was their a lot of people dancing or standing up and when they did they went off to the side. It felt a little weird sitting there singing along with the crowd acting more like a classical concert or watching a golf/tennis match. It was an interesting crowd experience that I’ve never had.

If you get the chance to see any of them perform including Jason with The Road Hammers is a must see event and worth the price of admission.
