Sonic 2 teased a 3rd movie with the villain being Shadow and it has come to fruition. Sonic The Hedgehog 3 will see the return of the live action including Jim Carrey, who has toyed with retirement from acting, and voice cast while adding Keanu Reeves as the voice of Shadow.
The premise of the upcoming film is Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles reunite against a powerful new adversary, Shadow the Hedgehog, a mysterious villain with powers unlike anything they have faced before. With their abilities outmatched in every way, Team Sonic must seek out an unlikely alliance in hopes of stopping Shadow and protecting the planet.
The movie clearly has a take on the nurture aspect of nature vs nurture with Sonic finding and making friends and family and Shadows past being one of sorrow, painting that his environment shaped him more so than possibly his nature.
I for one look forward to this release as I wasn’t a big fan of the 2nd one but this one has me already more excited from the trailer than the other one did. PLus it looks like we get Keanu in his best form, short bits of talking and a lot of action, if if animated.
The film is set to hit cinemas December 20, 2024
