This weekend on Rising Stars the headliner was Rodney Slade and his new song “Barstool Breakup.” Rodney is a singer-songwriter from Newfoundland who is beginning to gain some traction with his sophomore single “The Lazy and Good For Nothings” which got to #41 on the charts for Canadian country airplay, and named Rogers “One To Watch,” which for an independent artist is quite the accomplishment. Rodney growing up in Newfoundland was surrounded by music and found his way to country music, which is growing in the Maritimes. Rodney is a a big proponent for mental health and is the driving reason for creating music.

Rodney’s new single “Barstool Breakup” is about not just about the end of a relationship with another person but also the breakup with the bar and that life of drinking. It truly shows the growth  as an artist and a song with great meaning.
