This weekend on River Country Rising Stars the headliner was Nayana with her new single “Floatin’ Downstream.” Nayana is a singer-songwriter from Ottawa with plans in the very near future to join a number of Canucks and relocate to Nashville. Like a number of young talents out there Nayana is one who has seen going viral on Tiktok, while there still is a TikTok. In a short career, so far, Nayana has 3 million streams on digital streaming platforms, on top of winning several competitions, painting a bright future for this product of the nations capital. Nayana like a number of artists goes by a single name, not to because someone like Cher is an inspiration but more so her last name is hard to pronounce as is her first name for that matter.
“Floatin’ Downstream” is the follow up to her last radio single “Bought Me A Drink,” and sees her sound go from a pop-country to one with some grit to it. The song has been described as an anthem of empowerment and support for independent women, which wasn’t inspired by true events I am told … or was it ??? For the answer to that you will have to check out the conversation.
