This weekend on River Country Rising Stars the headliner was Jade Turner. Jade is an emerging talent from Manitoba whose family is from Misipawistik Cree Nation, known in English as “Grand Rapids.” Jade was recently a semi-finalist in the Top of the Country contest, which is a coveted spot to obtain. Jade isn’t a full time singer at the moment and currently works as a millwright. Her talents have seen the Manitoba Country Music Association wins and plenty of nominations as well as Western Canadian Music Award nomination. This talent is shown in her new single “That Wind.”
“That Wind” was created by Jade with the idea coming while literally on a dogsled up in Churchill, Manitoba for the “Winterupption” event where she was performing. The song is a blend of her roots and country, sewn together in her magnetic storyteller singing style.
