This weekend on River Country Rising Stars the show was headlined by Jacquie Daniels. Jacquie is a Metis artists who has played many genres of music you may not have guessed. She performs “outlaw” country a sub genre of country that was popular in the 70s. Jacquie is a rising star with her song “Small Town Beauty Queen” being top 5 on the Indigenous Music Countdown.
In my conversation with Jacquie we discussed her start in music and the choice to pursue it as a career along side the choice to pursue it in country music after finding out the other genres she was pursuing before. We discussed the origins of the song “Small Town Beauty Queen” and what the plan for the rest of the year looks like for her and her band.
