This weekends headliner was Brooklyn Blackmore with her brand new single “Lipstick Stains.” Brooklyn is an award nominated artist from Nova Scotia who is making a name for herself out in Halifax and starting to get the attention of those outside of the Maritime provinces. Her song “Great Minds Drink Alike” has been played on the show before and we are happy to have a new one out for you to enjoy. Her music has range from deeply personal to fun good time, with the new song in the fun good time category.  Brooklyn’s video for her song “Been There Too” grabbed a lot of peoples attention, and personally it was hard to get through given the raw emotions she was showing in a song about a serious and sensitive topic.

“Lipstick Stains” is a song that was written by Brooklyn along with Aaron Goodvin and Brent Baxter, the same co-writers from “Great Minds Drink Alike.” The song about a girls night out came about during the pandemic, when those types of things weren’t a thing given the lockdowns. It is still hard to imagine Aaron Goodvin co-writing a girls night song, but the 3 of them made a heck of song, so much so that it is going to be played in rotation on River Country starting Monday.

Check out my conversation with Brooklyn:
