LET’S A GO! Check out the new Mario movie!

Ok, I know that was really cheesy but I had to make a reference to this well-beloved and iconic franchise. If you are a fan of the games or characters then you are definitely in luck because this movie is chock-full of references to Mario games past as well as other Nintendo products. I had a blast picking out all of the references and comparing notes after the movie with others about what had been shown. One of my only complaints was I just wish the movie was longer and we got to see more. With how ticket sales are doing right now it is definitely looking like a sequel might be in the cards as well.

The movie is great but what’s it actually about, well…We follow the Mario brothers as they are trying to make it big with their plumbing business in Brooklyn. Mario and Luigi have always had each other’s backs and are trying to make their dreams come true. They end up getting thrown into another world and separated so Mario has to team up with Princess Peach to try and save his brother and stop Bowser in the process.

The animation for the movie is done by Illumination. The same studio that had done Despicable Me and the Minions movies. The movie itself is animated really well and is just wonderful to look at. The vibrancy of the Mario World lends itself super well to the big screen with a colourful world and always something interesting to see. The other major notable thing about this movie is the voice cast which has a multitude of big-name celebrities. When they were first unveiled I was very skeptical but after watching, I did feel like they fit into their roles very well. They also had a cameo from the original voice of Mario in the movie as well. It just would be right to leave him out completely.

If you are a fan of the franchise or looking for a good family-friendly movie to check out I would highly recommend giving The Super Mario Bros. Movie a watch. Check out the trailer below!
