Movie Monday Mentions: Strange World

A Disney Movie has gotta be good right?

Yes. Yeah, it was good. Strange world opens by introducing us to the Clades, a family of explorers. This father-son team is on an expedition to see if there is more out there in the world for their people past the mountains. On their journey, they discover a plant that creates energy. The Clades have a disagreement on what to do. The father wants to keep exploring while the son wants to bring this plant back. After splitting up, the movie skips ahead 25 years and now the son has a family of his own but something ends up going wrong with the plant that he discovered so he gets roped back into another adventure of exploration…of a strange world.

The movie deals with a lot of topics about family and how sometimes parents have a vision for their children that may be different from what the child actually wants. How a child can want to make their own decisions and be their own person. Although this can cause disagreements it also sees them overcoming these obstacles and growing from those experiences throughout the movie.

The place they are exploring is super interesting. Seeing these weird creatures just existing in the world was a joy to watch. This was in part due to the fun designs as well as the beautiful animation. Everything was animated very well but you probably expected that from a Disney movie.

There is a couple of plot twists in the movie and it did things that I wasn’t expecting. If you have a keen eye you might have seen where the plot was going…but I didn’t. I like to fully invest myself in the movie and just let it tell its story so when the plot twist happened I thought it was very well done and explained a lot about their whole journey.

Below I have included the teaser trailer. I think I love teaser trailers because they give you a feeling of a movie and let you know a little of what to expect without giving too much away.
