Ok, let me start off by saying I think I’m in the minority here but I really enjoyed this movie.
Ant-Man and the Wasp-Quantumania is the third Ant-man movie and the start of phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So, that means that we are introduced to our next big villain Kang the conqueror. I haven’t watched a lot of the marvel T.V. shows. Despite that, the movie does a good job of filling you in on who this guy is and he gets a proper introduction here.
Ant-man has always been a more comedic hero and that definitely shows in this movie. Some jokes made me legitimately laugh out loud. Their comedic timing was really great! Although I know a lot of people have complained about marvel’s humour I really enjoyed it.
My only gripe with the movie is one character. They had her do the trope of a tragic backstory. “oh main character I can’t tell you anything because it’s too dangerous if anyone finds out” …it’s really not great. This causes a lot of problems to happen that could have otherwise been avoided if she only would have shared the information that she knew with everyone else. But, if you can get past that, I felt like the rest of the movie was fine.
There were some fun new characters introduced and as this is now kickstarting the next phase of marvel I’m curious to see how the ending plays into the bigger picture. If you do watch it. Stay till the end for two post-credits scenes.
If you’re still on the fence check out the trailer below I feel like this one does a good job giving you the vibes of the movie without actually giving away any major plot points. Plus the song choice is great!
