Morgan Wallen has announced that he will be taking 6 weeks off of performing, with the dates either being rescheduled or cancelled.

Wallen controversially canceled his performance at his show at Ole Miss 5 minutes before he was scheduled to hit the stage citing he lost his voice. Wallen would then postponed/canceled his next 3 shows.

In an Instagram video the “Last Night” singer announced the need for the time off after visiting a doctor after performing 3 shows in Florida the past weekend, not feeling well after the first one and was told to take the rest due to his vocal fold trauma. The rest is so hewouldn’t permanently damage his voice.

“[The doctors] told me that if I do this the right way that I’ll get back to 100%. They also said that if I don’t listen and I keep singing, I’ll permanently damage my voice. So for the longevity of my career, this is the choice I had to make. I hate it but I love you guys,” concluding “I’ll see you soon, and I’ll be back better than ever.”

The controversial singer also stated he recently tore his LAT muscle, and due to the vocal rest he will not be in attendance at Thursday’s Academy of Country Music Awards, where he was slated to perform.

Per a press release from Wallen’s rep, tickets for the original dates will be honored for rescheduled performances, and a 30-day refund window will be available when new dates are announced.

The time frame shouldn’t impact any of his scheduled Canadian festival performances and certainly not his fall Canadian tour dates.
