Mascots Make Headlines This Weekend

This past weekend 2 mascots made headlines in the news . The first was that the Seattle Kraken debuted their first ever mascot a Troll name Buoy. The troll is named after the buoy you see floating in the water that often has seagulls on it or the odd seal if big enough. Now why a troll when the team is named after a giant squid is beyond me, maybe because an octopus is the mascot and has been synonymous with the Detroit Redwings, but that should’ve been thought of when they named the team. Buoy came down from the rafters this weekend at a Kraken preseason game for his be debut. This debut also makes the New York Rangers the sole NHL team to not have a mascot.

The other mascot making headlines was Rocky the mascot for the NBA’s Denver Nuggets. Rocky made headlines for making himself some bank. The mascot will make $625k a year making him the highest paid mascot in the NBA and will make more than 10x the average mascot in the league which averages out to be $60k a year. What I find interesting is this means their are mascots in other sports making more than that since the headlines read NBA not in the world makes me wonder what Gritty pulls in. Also the average mascot in the NBA makes more money than a lot of people … I picked the wrong career lol
