Comedian and late night TV host Jimmy Kimmel is set to host the 2023 Academy Awards March 12th. This will mark the 3rd time Kimmel will host the awards as he hosted the show in 2017 and 2018, which included the infamous La La Land – Moonlight debacle. The Oscars have struggled to attract hosts in the past for a variety of reasons, but Kimmel seems ready to return as host after 5 years. Chris Rock, another past host, was rumored to have been offered the job, possibly in part due to “the slap,” but turned it down.
Kimmel has joked, “being invited to host the Oscars for a third time is either a great honor or a trap.” “Either way, I am grateful to the Academy for asking me so quickly after everyone good said no.”
