It has been announced that Jason McCoy, known for his solo work and work with The Road Hammers is going into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in September. It will be at an exclusive induction ceremony during 2023 Country Music Week, taking place in Hamilton, ON, September 14–16.
McCoy is a 2 time CCMA Male Vocalist of the Year, 3 time SOCAN Song of the Year awards, 19 other CCMA nominations and 5 Juno nominations (all for Best Country Male Vocalist). With The Road Hammers, he took on the Country Rock genre and guided the band to unprecedented success throughout Canada and the United States. They earned a Canadian Platinum-certified album, three CCMA Group of the Year award and a JUNO Award. McCoy is an award-winning morning radio host and host of the Nationally Syndicated weekly show Nothin’ But The 90’s.
McCoy has had 3 #1 singles as a solo artist and even more in the top 5 including his hit “Born Again in Dixieland.” With The Road Hammers he has 6 top 10 and 4 others in the top 20, and some success in getting a couple singles to the top 60 on the Hot Country chart in the US.
Joining McCoy will be Brian Edwards (Stan Klees Builder), who has had a 40 year career that at that time, the youngest talent agent in North America to be licensed by the Federation of Musicians Union. Edwards started his company, former CCMA Booking Agency of the Year Rockland Entertainment Inc., just after high school. Edwards has promoted over 5000 shows across Canada, the United States, and Australia. He continues to pay it forward by offering yearly scholarships at both Peterborough’s Kenner High School and the Wolfville Nova Scotia High School, in memory of Wilf Carter.
Congrats to both men on their success and rightful place in the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame. I may have to track down another giant cookie for McCoy in Hamilton, as he seemed to love the Birthday cookie from Farmers Restaurant.
