Friday 5 – Live Action TV Theme Songs

letters-abc-alphabet-journal-1

This week the Friday 5 will be TV theme songs from live-action shows and not animated they will be another list. TV show theme songs can set the mood for the show and take on a life of their own as you will see with many on the list. There are a lot of songs in contention for this list which is why I asked earlier in the week on Facebook so because I needed some input and guidance. These are just my top 5 for live action theme songs and my opinion on a near impossible list  to make. For some this list might be a blast from the past while others may not have heard of some of these theme songs or even the shows themselves.

5. Gilligan’s Island

How do you not love the catchy song that gives you the plot of the classic sitcom about a 3 hour tour on a boat leads to them all stranded on a deserted island. You don’t get theme songs like this one anymore which is a shame. The song by The Wellingtons perfectly gives you the story so it didn’t matter if you had seen the show to find or understand the plot of the hit show. The theme song to the 60’s sitcom is just so catchy and iconic that it has to be on the list.

4. Sesame Street

Well since the 1969s kids and adults have been jamming out to the intro theme song to the long running hit PBS show Sesame Street. The song is one you can’t help but sing along with while you have the biggest smile on your face. The song by The Kids known as “Sunny Days” asks how to get to the legendary street. Given all the classic songs in the shows history it is the theme song that everyone remembers. So does anyone know how do you get to Sesame Street.

3. Friends

Well it couldn’t be a list of top theme songs without the iconic Friends theme song “I’ll Be There For You” which was recorded by The Rembrandts. The song is an ear worm that just sticks with you and when you hear it you know exactly when to quick clap. As someone who grew up with the show it has an extra special spot in my heart.

2. Addams Family

Another oldie but a goodie that has found its own spot in pop culture, even being played at sporting events is the theme song to the Addams Family. The song is from the 60’s TV show and even gets mentioned in a small way in the recent hit show show Wednesday that is on Netflix. The song much like the Friends theme song you know when to jump in, but instead of clapping you know when to snap. The song is one that has stood the test of time and shows no sign of going anywhere from the publics consciousness.

1. Happy Days

Taking the top spot is the theme song to Happy Days. The show best known for the character The Fonz, has one that makes you wanna sing and dance to it. The song just transports you to the 50s with and wacky hijinks surrounding the Cunningham family and friends. The song even got a shout out in Weird Al’s “White and Nerdy,” a parody of “Ridin’ Dirty” by Chamillionaire. It is just a joyous and fun theme song that found its way to what might be immortality.
