Friday 5 – Action Movie Stars

letters-abc-alphabet-journal-1

This week for the Friday 5 I am looking at action stars in movies. So many actions stars can come to mind from current stars like The Rock to Vin Diesel to the classic stars like Stallone and Schwarzenegger. Making this list meant some big names had to miss but hey it’s not like movie stars have big egos or anything. Without further ado here is my Friday 5 list of the top 5 action movie stars.

5. Jason Statham

Jason Statham has become a staple for action movies since he starred in The Transporter. Statham has starred in Fast and Furious film, The Expendables, the aforementioned Transporter and various others. Whether it is a movie about taking on a Megalodon or teaming up with action heroes in The Expendables franchise you will see him give it his all and bring tons of action.

4. Tom Cruise

How can you have an action movie star top 5 and not include Tom Cruise. Tom in his 60s is still doing the bulk of his own stunts and can still bring us great movies like Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 1 a few weeks ago, not to mention Top Gun films, Collateral, American Made and before it became a hit streaming show he brought Jack Reacher to the big screen. Tom Cruise has cemented a legacy with action films and earns his way onto the Friday 5.

3. Sylvester Stallone

In the bronze spot is Rocky himself Sylvester Stallone. Stallone is a legend when it comes to action movies with titles like the Rambo franchise as well as Expendables and titles like Judge Dredd, Cliffhanger, Samaritan, Tango and Cash and yes even Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot. It is hard to think of action movies and not think of Stallone.

2. Keanu Reeves

This might be a surprise that he is this high but you cannot deny  Keanu Reeves is one of the best action stars in the business. Reeves much like Cruise still does the lions share of his own stunts and has made some of the best action movies from the 90s onward. Movies like Point Break, The Matrix franchise, Constantine, Street Kings, Man of Tai Chi and of course the John Wick franchise. Keanu may not be this high on many people’s list but he is on mine.

1. Arnold Schwarzenegger

Taking the top spot is the inspiration for the list, the man turning 76 this weekend Arnold Schwarzenegger. Arnold is the undeniable king of action movies with classics like Conan The Barbarian, Terminator movies, Predator, Commando, Last Action Hero, Kindergarten Cop and even joining the action in the Expendables. It would be hard to deny Arnold his flowers in the action category. Though likely not able to do them as much and with some health concerns at times, but it would be hard to take the title from Arnold.
