Everett’s Friday 5 – Halloween Songs

letters-abc-alphabet-journal-1

This week my Friday 5 is a Top 5 Halloween Songs to help you get in the mood for the big day coming up in a little over a week. I thought long and hard on this list and some tough decisions needed to be made but after some blood (papercut), sweat and tears I bring you the Friday 5 Halloween Songs.

Honorable Mentions:

  • Bark at the Moon – Ozzy Osbourne
  • Somebody’s Watching Me – Rockwell
  • I’m in Love with a Monster – Fifth Harmony

5. Welcome to My Nightmare – Alice Cooper

It’s hard for me to think Halloween and not think the classics from Alice Cooper like “Feed My Frankenstein,” “He’s Back (Man Behind the Mask)” to name a few but its “Welcome to my Nightmare” that sets the  tone for Halloween for me.

4. Ghostbusters – Ray Parker Jr.

It’s hard to go anywhere without hearing the theme to the successful Ghostbusters movie. The movie is everywhere and you know it from the second it plays and cannot help but shout out the answer to “Who You Gonna Call” … Ghostbusters

3. I Put A Spell on You – Screamin’ Jay Hawkins

A song many of my generation will recognize from Bette Midler covering it for Hocus Pocus, but it is the original that make my Friday 5 as it brings the spooky and macabre with Screamin’ Jay as a voodoo man and the voice just sets the scene for Halloween.

2. Thriller – Michael Jackson

You know this was either going to be #1 or #2, well I give it the silver spot. While this is a song that you can easily listen to all year round but with the help of the zombified music video and voice over from the legendary Vincent Price you cannot remotely call it Halloween without having this classic on repeat.

1.Monster Mash – Bobby (Boris) Pickett

Taking the top spot for the Friday Five Halloween Songs edition is nonother than the Monster Mash. Booby Pickett’s classic was engraved into me as a kid and I am not mad about it. It references classic Halloween figures like Wolfman, Frankenstein and of course Dracula. You don’t have to be a kid to enjoy this iconic Halloween song.

Be ready for 1 last Halloween themed Friday 5 next week
