Pixar’s Elio was a movie I had an eye on since like 2 years ago. It originally was supposed to come out in 2024. Due to many delays and behind-the-scenes issues it is now set to come out this year. It seems there were a lot of big changes behind the scenes because below is the original trailer I saw a year ago.
We follow Elio this boy who loves his mom and accidentally gets abducted by aliens and pretends to be the leader of earth. Fast forward to today, here is the new trailer.
Completely different vibes. In this one, Elio willingly wants to get abducted and has a more tense relationship with his mom. The line, goodbye I love you instead of being used for his mom was used for the aliens which was a little saddening, also in the original trailer a character that was used for comic relief is now the main antagonist. It also seems that he is not pretending to be the leader of the earth anymore. We also can’t forget about the brand new character they introduced who is super important and is now Elio’s best friend.
A lot of changes were made to this film and I’m curious if it will be good. I was genuinely excited about the old trailer and this one just doesn’t seem as good but time will tell they have a planned release date of June 20th
