In September the CCMA Awards will come to Edmonton for the first time in a long time and now we know who will be up for the awards. This is the closest the awards will likely come to the Peace/Mackenzie region and our regions have secured some nominations. Tenille Townes goes for history by trying to secure her 6th straight Female Artist of the Year award, which would make her the most decorated in the category. Other locals to the Peace and Mackenzie getting nominations includes High Valley (5), Aaron Goodvin (2) Plus some surprising nominations in the major televised categories. Co-host for the awards MacKenzie Porter has numerous nomination totaling 6, whereas Owen Riegling a relative new comer only a few radio singles to his name has accumulated 4 nominations including the coveted entertainer of the year. A couple names from River Country Rising Stars are nominated as well with past headliners Hailey Benedict, Teigen Gayse, The Prairie States and Tony Stevens all receiving nominations while others featured on the show like Alli Walker, Josh Ross, The Western Swing Authority, as well as the aforementioned Owen Riegling.
