Taylor Swift’s “The Era” has been a massive success leading to massive resale prices and leaving many fans disappointed if they cannot get tickets, and with Swift announcing new dates in Europe and Asia it left many Canadian fans upset as she has yet to return to the great white north since 2018 with her Reputation Tour when it hit Toronto.
Yesterday Alberta MP for Edmonton Riverbend Matt Jeneroux filed a just for fun “Official Grievance” with the House of Commons. Jeneroux filed it on behalf of all Swifties in Canada.”
The Edmonton MP wrote in a letter to the House Speaker: “It has come to my attention that despite much anticipation, Taylor Swift’s Era Tour has neglected to include any Canadian dates or locations. Not only is this leaving Canadian fans without the opportunity to see her tour, but it is also leaving Canada out of the economic opportunities her shows generate.”
It should be known Swift has no scheduled dates for September and October, probably for maintenance/a break from the tour to relax, but has shown to indication that she plans to bring the tour to Edmonton.
Jeneroux’s letter demands “swift action to address what I can only assume is a serious oversight.”
It should be noted that Canada does have several stadiums that could easily accommodate her tour like Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal as well as Edmonton as we have seen with Luke Combs.
Fellow MPs Ya’ara Saks and Melissa Lantsman tweeted their support of this with the latter tweeting “We got you, Swifties”.
