The Canadian Country Music Association has announced the location for the 2027 CCMA Awards and it will be St. John’s, Newfoundland. This will mark the first time a CCMA will be held in the maritimes since 2015, and while in in 2006 it went to Saint John, NB we will see the in St. John’s. Before the location of the next CCMAs would be announced after the current one, a trend that changed following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, where the announcement had to be held off. Heading into the CCMAs in Edmonton they announced Kelowna as the host for the 2025 awards, and before Kelowna awards Saskatoon was named for 2026, which is under 4 months away.

The announcement was made on the day the first ballot for the CCMA Awards closed, and the announcement seemed to catch many off guard as there didn’t seem to be a build up to the announcement as there was in the past like with Kelowna.

For me this is what it was likely going to take to finally get me to visit Newfoundland, which is something I’ve hoped to do for quite sometime, being a fan of Great Big Sea/Alan Doyle as well as of the CBC show Republic of Doyle.

The awards week will be September 15-18, 2027, with the award show on the 18th.
