Enhanced enforcement happening this May long weekend

rcmp541916

Alberta RCMP say drivers can expect increased traffic enforcement over the May long weekend — one of the busiest travel periods of the year. Officers across the province will be focusing on dangerous driving behaviours most often linked to serious crashes, including impaired driving, speeding, distracted driving, and failing to wear seatbelts.

RCMP say patrols, check stops, and targeted enforcement operations will be conducted throughout the holiday weekend as part of Canada Road Safety Week, a national campaign aimed at reducing collisions and saving lives.

Drivers are being reminded to plan ahead for a safe ride home, obey posted speed limits, stay focused behind the wheel, and make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained.

Anyone who witnesses dangerous driving is encouraged to report it to police when it is safe to do so.
