- The Town of Peace River has cancelled their flood alert. Water flows in the Heart River have decreased but there is still risk of ice jams forming.
While there is no longer an imminent risk of flooding at this time, officials with the Town say residents have to continue to be prepared for changing conditions.
In the meantime, the Local State of Emergency is still in effect. - Police in Peace River are investigating a homicide that happened early yesterday morning at the Petro-Canada on the West Hill.
Police are looking to identify a suspect, who on surveillance, stole a vehicle and ran over the victim, resulting in his death. - Red Earth Creek RCMP have 49 year-old Alex Julius Okewow of Peerless Lake in custody, after an assault with a weapon complaint, early Saturday morning.
The caller said to police that he was punched in the face, was bleeding, and that the suspect tried to stab him. Okemow is in court in June. - Police in Peace River are wanting to identify suspects in a B&E last month, where two suspects rammed a garage door, entered a shed and stole equipment on 75th Street.
Police did obtain footage, found the damage, which included a broken gate, and are looking for information from the public, plus surrounding businesses. - Budget deliberations continue in High Level, with a focus on delivering essential services, strengthening long-term financial health, and providing a level of municipal tax relief to residents and businesses.
The budget process has also shifted to a detailed, evidence-based review of expenditures across all departments, rather that rely on historical spending patterns.
A key part to the process was public engagement and feedback, which was brought forward, back in December. - The Peace River School Division has been approved to receive a modular classroom for Grimshaw Public School.
The Division has begun plans to install the classroom on the Elementary wing of the facility. - The Canadian Wrestling Championships are happening today through Sunday at the Design Works Center in Grande Prairie.
Around 1,000 athletes, coaches and officials will be present for the three-day competition. - The Mighty Peace Basketball League begins their season this weekend. Six teams are taking part, with the first games at Glenmary School in Peace River.

- The Toronto Blue Jays start a three-game weekend set tonight at home to Cleveland. Max Scherzer starts for the Jays against Gavin Williams.
- Sunny skies in the Peace and Mackenzie this afternoon, with a little more cloud cover and a slight chance of flurries in the Big Lakes.
Highs are around 5 degrees, except for -1 in the Big Lakes. Snow does fall tonight in the Big Lakes, while clear skies inhabit the Peace and Mackenzie.
Lows are between -5 and -10, but warmer daytime highs are coming next week.
