- Ice Jam watches are continuing for the Lower Smoky River and the Peace River, as snowmelt continues. At this point, there are no current flood risks.
- The Village of Berwyn is reviewing a letter from the RCMP Police Dog Service in regards to a potential training opportunity in the area.
The Village has also granted approval of the interim water meter installation and removal form.
Council has also granted permission to repair the Public Works yard, and install culvert markers on 50th Avenue, in preparation for work this winter. - The town of Peace River is searching for a new CAO as Barb Millar is no longer in the position.
Kayla Parsons is the new interim CAO, while the town looks for a permanent replacement. - The Provincial Government has earmarked nearly a million dollars to the Peace River School Division, which support the North Peace Commercial Driving Academy.
The Industry Achievement Grant will help power the Youth Commercial Driver Pathway, a project that enhances training, recruitment, and retention of Class 1 and Class 3 drivers in northern and rural Alberta. - The hamlet of La Crete is inviting residents to share information on their Area Structure Plan.
A Public Information Session is happening this afternoon from 3:00-8:00 at the Mackenzie County office.
Officials are looking for a guide to how the land is used and where La Crete will grow for the next 20 years. - NHL playoffs tonight… Anaheim is in Edmonton, Pittsburgh is in Philidelphia, and Dallas is in Minnesota.
- The World U-18 hockey championships start today in Slovakia, with Canada playing the hosts. Canada is the two-time defending champions.
- The Toronto Blue Jays look for the sweep in Anaheim this afternoon. Eric Lauer starts for the Jays against Jose Soriano.
- A chance for some rain showers or flurries today in the Northwest. Highs are around 5 degrees, with lows tonight being at, or just below zero.
The Peace and Mackenzie will start clearing out a little tomorrow, while the Big Lakes is looking at periods of snow until the weekend.
