Berwyn Council Highlights…

berwyn

The Village of Berwyn council is exploring new partnerships, infrastructure updates, and community improvements following its latest meeting.

Council is considering a request from the RCMP Police Dog Service to use municipal buildings and properties for training exercises. Administration will continue discussions with the RCMP and bring forward updates as details are confirmed.

Planning is also underway for the 2026 campground season. Council reviewed draft registration forms and rules, and is seeking public input through a resident survey. Officials are also working to streamline registration and have clarified that auxiliary power sources will not be allowed during quiet hours, from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.

In financial matters, council reviewed participation in the Local Authorities Pension Plan for staff but has postponed a decision until upcoming budget talks. Council has also approved funding for Public Works safety training in 2026, including certifications in equipment operation, First Aid, WHMIS, and ground disturbance.

An extension will be requested from Alberta Municipal Affairs to allow more time to complete the village’s annual audit.

Council also approved a new interim waiver form outlining responsibilities for water meter installation and removal.

On the infrastructure side, repairs are moving ahead for a damaged gate at the Public Works yard, and culvert markers will be installed along 50 Street ahead of the next winter season.

Finally, council has directed administration to organize a full tour of village-owned properties and assets.
