Energy Alberta collaborates with Bruce Power on Nuclear Power Project

energy-alberta-2

Energy Alberta has signed a new collaboration agreement with Bruce Power as it works to advance Alberta’s first major nuclear energy project.

The deal will see Bruce Power share its experience, frameworks, and lessons learned to help guide early planning. Both sides say the partnership comes as Canada faces rising electricity demand and increasing pressure to improve reliability, cut emissions, and stay economically competitive.

The agreement also supports a broader federal-provincial push to develop nuclear power in Alberta, with a goal of building a competitive facility that could supply energy across interconnected markets by 2050.

Energy Alberta’s proposed Peace River Nuclear Power Project is currently in the regulatory planning stage, with the first phase targeted to be operational by 2035.

Company leaders say insights from Bruce Power will be key as Alberta explores how nuclear energy could complement its existing energy mix and strengthen long-term energy security.
