2nd year of putting together a list of my favourite movies. This year I kept a list on my phone of every movie I had seen so that it was way easier ranking them at the end. It definitely helped. Although i had heard that this year didn’t have a lot going for it. I found it tough to round my list off to just 10. Now these might not be objectively the best movies of 2025 but they are my top movies. So, lets dive in.
10.The Minecraft movie
This was a cultural phenomenon when it released. The hype, the memes, the activity at the theatre of everyone saying the lines…it was beautiful. I of course was totally in it. I collected all the McDonalds toys and knew all the memes while watching this. Now does that make it a good movie. not necessarily. but it was definitely fun and I enjoyed my time with it and I would totally watch it again.
9.Predator: Badlands
This one surprised me. It was my first predator film so I didn’t know what to expect going in. I was than was greeted with a story about a young guy trying to prove his worth which is something i can get behind. On his journey he meets some fun characters and gets to see a cool world. I also really liked the full circle ending of him learning to use his environment to fight at the end. I think sci-fi fans should check this one out.
8.The Bad Guys 2
I missed the bad guys 1 when it released so I watched it just before to get caught up and oh boy was it great…this one though, blows it out of the water. The animation is fantastic, just a visual treat for the eyes. The characters are still awesome and we even meet some new ones that fit right in. Now just keep in mind that it is still a kids movie with some fart jokes so i feel like that docks it some points here but i think it is something the whole family can get enjoyment out of.
7.Now You See Me: Now You Don’t
The day I was going to see this I watched the other movies in the franchise. my friend swears by these movies so I had to see what the hype was about and I now see why he does. these movies are just back to back plot twists and they are done so well. This one is no different, and they get everyone back together and even introduce some new characters which makes it seem like we will be getting atleast another movie…hopefully.
6.From the World of John Wick: Ballerina
John Wick films are always so great to watch. Although this is technically a spin off, Keanu Reeves does show up and the quality of the action is all there. Our protagonist, Eve, has a lot of great fights in this film and it makes it worth watching again just to see the beautiful choreography.

5.Superman
I love superhero films but superman took the cake this year. It had comedy, drama, and heart…I think most of all heart. The way the world is right now it’s nice to see a hero just be a hero. We see some ramifications of his choices but he stands by them and its nice to see him not back down. Plus the soundtrack is fantastic. I think I am just a James Gunn fan at this point.
4.Caught Stealing
This movie came out of nowhere and became a personal favourite. I just like this story about a guy who’s world gets turned upside down and has to accept the past and himself. It’s kinda something we all have to do at some point. It also kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. plus the cat was really cute!
3.Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc
There were a few anime films that made it big this year but I think Chainsaw man was my personal favourite. I love the franchise and it means a lot to me. So seeing it on the big screen and getting to share it on the radio was so special. I think the animation was amazing and they captured the story perfectly. The new music was also so iconic. I can’t wait to see them continue the story.
2.Novocaine
Ok, I think I’m realizing that i just love movies about a guy. nothing more nothing less. Novocaine follows just an average bank worker when he goes on a quest for the love of his life. I guess if i found someone like that I would do the same. He uses his ability of not feeling pain in all sorts of unique ways and oh boy is it gross sometimes, but the vibes, the feelings, and the overall optimistic attitude this movie has I adore it.
1.KPop Demon Hunters
The absolute best movie this year. It shot straight up to number one as soon as I watched it. Then it just took the world by storm. The animation is great, the story is fantastic new and unique, and the songs…are all in my personal playlist. Zoe is the best and i could keep writing but instead just GO WATCH THIS MOVIE!!!
Overall I think 2025 had quite a lot of great films that are going to stick with me. Maybe there were just a lot to my personal tastes but I think this year will be one I look back on fondly.
