Turns out, based on a book!
Regretting you follows this family after an incident shakes up their lives and reveals secrets and love that had remained dormant for years. I can’t say too much more than that without spoiling the plot and the twists that happen, but I will say that it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. The first half of the film is almost like a mystery as our characters are trying to figure out the aftermath of the incident. The second half is all of the secrets coming out.
The film has a lot of recognizable actors, which drew me in in the first place, but then I realized it was based on the book by Colleen Hoover. Now she is known for very divisive work. dealing with some darker and less written-about topics. Now that can be hit or miss for some people, but I thought this one was on the tamer side of her work. But you can definitely tell it’s one of her stories.
The soundtrack is very good, there are some good songs, and they even have some significance at certain moments in the film. Visually, it’s a modern setting that does look good, nothing too crazy there.
Overall, I think it’s a good film that deals with an interesting predicament, and I thought it did it well with a bittersweet outcome. I will say if you haven’t read the book and want to be surprised, don’t watch the trailer, but if you want to check out more, give the trailer a watch below.
