Wildlife moving around, possibly on roadways for food and mates (Mark Heckbert)

moose-on-road

Fall has hit the Peace Region, and officials are asking drivers to be careful when travelling on the roadways.

Motorists need to pay attention because they are around, and they could be crossing roadways, and causing a collision.

Wildlife is moving around, thus increasing chances for a collision.

The main movers are the ungulates, which are the deer, the bears and the moose.

Mark Heckbert is a Provincial Wildlife Conflict Specialist of Alberta Forestry and Parks, based in high Prairie.

He says simple tips like slowing down, especially at night, being aware, storing harvested crops, being smarter than the average bear, and being safe in general, is key
