Back on Friday I was lucky enough to take in Jake Owen in Enoch with Ashley Ghostkeeper who is from High Level originally opened for the “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” singer.
Ashley would hit the stage included with a new recorded intro that helped get the crowd going before she would perform. Ashley would be accompanied on stage with her aunt Dawn, Jared, Aiden (Johner), and Ryan Davidson (Gord Bamford). She would play a number of her songs including a new one to be released in the near future. For many they didn’t know who she was going into the performance but it is safe to say she made some new fans out of the crowd. Weirdly this is the first time I got to see Ashley perform with a full band set, not just an acoustic performance and it certainly adds to the show having the support and allows her to be more free on stage.
After a brief intermission to get he stage properly set up we got the one and only Jake Owen. Jake would play his hit songs along with some cover songs just to add to the fun. It definitely took me back to hear some of the classics in his discography whether it be “Anywhere With You,” “Yee-Haw” or “Eight Second Ride” for example. The energy and fun atmosphere of the show is something to be hold. There was the possibility he was going to go out into the crowd, which sadly didn’t happen but fans were happy with all the guitar picks and beers he tossed into the crowd.
While I will get the chance to see Ashley perform again, I really hope to get to see Jake Owen on stage as it was certainly a good time and seeing as he just played Country Thunder Alberta the next day, it is safe to believe he may play more Canadian festivals again in the coming years.
